Masterplanning Projects

A Master Plan adopts the principles of Context, Identity and Connection:

Context – deliver a solution that recognises the local, traditional character of the area and its immediate surroundings. It will respond to the physical context of a site within and beyond its boundaries.

Identity – create a solution that is distinct and can be appreciated and cared for by its residents and visitors. The plan will seek to establish a new character for the development.

Connection – the development should merge with the existing landscape via easy pedestrian, cycle and road links being enhanced and created through the site and connect into existing path / road / water networks.

A masterplan will deliver a solution based on the good practice identified in publications such as (Planning Advice Note) PAN 77: Designing safer places, PAN 83: Master Planning, PAN 68: Design statements and PAN 65: Planning and Open Space.
